Here is the latest (well first) airborne video shots. It is a 45sec clip and I tried to pack in as much 'feel' for the flying as possible.
There are two versions:
chasehigh.avi Hi Res version 5.6mb, 352x240, 29.97 frames/sec
chaselow.avi Low Res version 1.7mb, 176x120, 15 frames/sec
Note: Some people have mentioned they are getting a "MP42 decompressor not found" message when they try to view the AVI files. That is the problem with those pesky "codecs". Codecs are the internal "code" used to decipher the compressed avi files. There's tons of them and you usually get a decent collection when you have a newer version of the Windows Media Player or a newer version of the operating system: WindowsME or Windows2000. Here is a site that will help you if you get the error: http://www.moviesoftware.net/codecs.html
Also, if you are interested in how I made this movie (more discussion of codecs) as well as others I have on this site then check out: Making Movies on the Internet
This is a formation flying flight ("formation" used loosely). The little flicker at the bottom of the screen is actually the prop captured at a very high shutter speed. Here are a couple of screen shots from the flight:

The system itself comes from
The system I have is called the AAR-14 and consists of a tranmitter, receiver, battery, etc. You can find more info at http://wirelessvideocameras.com/public/specs.htm#AAR14
Check out the pics below......
I have mounted it on top of my Hannibal. The pilot puts on
the VR glasses
and sits down on a
chair. We put a blanket over his head to keep out the sun. We hand him a
transmitter which is buddy-boxed to a safety pilot in case there is loss
of signal, etc. Notice the camera is mounted up on a pedestal above the
wing. You can see the video transmitter antenna trailing below the
plane.
